Question I am in the process of removing malware from my computer. I'm trying to download AVG and Spybot Search and Destroy, but it keeps saying that I am either not connected to the Internet or that it can't connect to the server.. but I can still access Yahoo and Google online, so I know that I'm hooked up to the Internet. Please help!!
Answer Some malware will block the download or installation of some anti-malware software. Sometimes you can get these programs to work by booting your computer in "safe-mode". Most of the time you go into safe mode by pressing F8 or F5 when the machine is starting up. In order to have an internet connection you will have to check the option "safe-mode with networking".
You can also try a different program. I have been using malwarebytes with a lot of success. You can get it for free at www.malwarebytes.org.
