Question
The below files come up when I am doing maintenance on my PC. I don't want to delete them untl I know exactly what they are and what they do. My suspession is that they are some type of either spyware or trojan horse virus but I am just not sure. Can you tell me what the heck they are?

C:Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroIEHelperShim.dll

C:Program Files\BitComet\tools\BitCometBHO_1.3.7.16.dll

C:Program Files\AVG\AVG9avgssie.dll

Any help or information about the above 3 files would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
hi don

Description: AcroIEHelperShim.dll is a file which may have arrived on your computer the day you purchased it. The file location is also listed below, and should always be verified as spyware writers will often use the same named file or like named files and just locate them elsewhere in attempts to fool you. This file is part of the Adobe, and it is PDF related browser software. This will run as a BHO in your browser everytime you start or open your web browser. This goes by the name Adobe PDF Helper. This file is considered safe and is not considered spyware or adware related.

BitCometBHO_1.3.7.16.dll - nothing reported, file used by P2P program called BitComet.

AVG9avgssie.dll - nothing reported, file used by antivirus called AVG.
