Computer Security & Viruses/Internet Explorer not working properly

Question
I have two accounts on my Windows laptop, mine and a family member's. I opened Internet Explorer on my account one day and it opened, BUT froze up for a few seconds before refreshing itself repeatedly. It kept on doing so until the page told me that Internet Explorer couldn't access Google, which is my homepage. Then it continued on refreshing itself nonstop until I closed the page (with some difficulty).

Then I switched to the other account on my laptop and found that Internet Explorer worked perfectly fine on it. I don't know what went wrong with it. It had never happened before, and I am not sure whether a virus has infected my laptop but it's a possibility. In addition, I cannot properly open or use other functions or programs on my laptop that use Internet Explorer, such as the iTunes store.

Thank you in advance.

Answer
I'm sorry to answer so late, but somehow AllExperts hasn't been notifying me of pending questions.

Are you still having this problem? If so, here are two easy ways that might fix the problem.

1. Use System Restore to take your computer back (hopefully) to how it was set up before Internet Explorer stopped working in that account. To get there, click Start --> Help. That will bring up a page that includes System Restore.

2. Or, delete the account that has the malfunctioning Internet Explorer. Then set up a new account and use that one.

In the future, you will be safer using a better browser, for example Opera, free from http://www.opera.com/; Firefox, free from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/; or Chrome, free from http://www.google.com/chrome/

Please let me know if this doesn't solve your problem.
