Question
ive been having major problems with my comp. it got infected with vista antispyware 2010. ive managed to delete some of the files, but maleware bytes and other anti virus softwares cant event detect it. it even gave me the blue screen and crashed my computer when i tried to scan for it. if i try to open a program, it wants me to select a program to open it with. obviously, i can still open stuff that way, but of course it is not working the way it should. here is the coped notepad after the scan and log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2

i would really appreciate any help i could get. this is very frustrating.

Hi Dan

As you have found, Vista Antispyware 2010 is a rather nasty rogue antivirus.  It goes beyond other rogues in it's ability to protect itself from deletion.  However, your HJT log is clean, so you seem to have removed the rogue.  What you are dealing with now is the damage it has done to Vista's system files.  Download the following to your desktop:

After it downloads, double-click on the file. When Windows prompts whether or not you want to allow the data to be added to your computer registry, click on the Yes button.
That will, hopefully, take care of the Open With... problem.  Next, scan your computer with the ESET Online Scanner:

You will need to run it with Administrator privileges.  If there is any infection left over, ESET will find and delete it for you.
Finally, you should then check the integrity of your operating system by running the scannow utility.  Click Start, type cmd into the Start/Search box, right-click cmd.exe in the list and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In the cmd window, type sfc /scannow then hit Enter.  The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions:
