Question
dear caroln
i don't know if you can help me or point me in the direction of someone who can....i am pretty new on here and must have left my username and password  for my google account lying around...stupid i know... someone maliciously posted a pretty libelous and nasty remarks about me which if you type into google you can see...type in to the goole search "steve levine syracuse ny" and you'll see.....this actually impugns my reputation and marriage (my wife is a nervous wreck and doesn't know what to believe)...and could be extremely damaging if seen by my family (wife 4 kids 2 grandchildren)or a friend....as a total beginner i immediately panicked and shut down the account hoping that the "cache" would disappear.....some experts say that in time it will go now the account doesn't exist anymore....i have tried to contact google to reopen the account just for long enough to get this removed but they won't do it saying i'm not giving them enough info about myself  to do that...i have no idea what they are talking about....i have given them everything i can think of....but to no avail.....can you help me or suggest someone or some category in here where i might find some help. i have even written to the Google headquarters in Ca. to try to embarrass them into having something done.....i am even willing to pay if that helps
help me if you can...i'm fairly desperate
steve

Answer
Don't worry too much, today it's gone from the cache.

In order to prevent this from happening again, don't use an easy password and set Google Gmail to only log you in over a secure connection, so that nobody can steal your password over the Internet. To do this, click settings (upper right hand corner" and click the button for "always use https"

One other important safety feature is to make certain no Trojans have infected your computer. There might be a bratty teenage boy somewhere on Planet Earth who may have broken into your computer and installed a Trojan. Have you installed a complete Internet security suite on your computer? The kind you have to pay for, not free, the kind that includes protection from spyware and a firewall that is better than the Windows firewall? If you haven't done so, and if your Google profile gets messed up again, please let me know and I'll show you how to get rid of the bad guy who might be snooping on your computer.
