Question
Hy,

Yesterday my computer started shutting down on it's own.I started my computer again and after a few minutes,it shut down again. It shuts down like I am pressing the shut down button. It happened several times and it shuts down randomly.I though i had a virus, and I entered safe mode, and tried to close the virus from startup manager. There was no virus there.Today I started my computer, and now it doesn't even enter in windows anymore,it stops in the windows loading screen,or in the bios loading screen.I cleaned the RAM modules and changed the slots.I also cleaned the processor and I bought another power supply. The issue still occurs.I think I may have a virus because this happened after I received a file from a friend. The file had the extension .gif, but it opened with IE.I have Windows 7 on my computer.

Answer
Hi Radu,

You already did what I would of suggested, saying that,I would suggest downloading Norton AntiVirus 2010 -30 Day Opt-Out Trial from:

https://shop.symantecstore.com/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayPage&Env=BASE&Locale=en_US&SiteID=symnahho&id=QCShoppingCartPage

install it on your computer, that is, if you can get it to start. If you can, after installing, check for updates and then run a scan. Also, make sure you opt out before the 30days are up, otherwise you will be charged for the program.

If you cannot start Windows, you will probably have to reformat. Do you have a backup of anything of importance? If not, you might want to take it to the local repair shop where they can backup everything and then reinstall Windows for you.

Hope this helps!

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
