Question
QUESTION: Hi Ryan,

I would like your option on this. What do think of downloading a free version of AVG on a downloadable site, [which I will not mention, because I am not suppose too] and is it save? And would AVG have this on their site? I know the pay version, will be in their site, but will it have the free version too? Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Martin C. Meyer

ANSWER: Hi Martin,

You may download the free version from either of the following sites:

http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html

http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage

Hope this helps!

QUESTION: Hi Lorry,

Thank you for your info. Now, my question is, is there an expiration date on the free download and if there is can I just redownload the free version again, you know free version renewal? But first uninstall the old free version first. Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Martin C. Meyer

Answer
Hi Martin,

Rereading my first answer, realized that I gave you two sites to get AVG for free, here's the download.com site where you may download Avast - for free:

http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html

Both AVG and Avast free AV programs, these free - not a free version to try. If you download them from their home sites, make sure you click on the free version.

http://www.avast.com/index

Basically that is why I suggested downloading them from the download.com site so there shouldn't be any problems.

Which ever one you decide to use, make sure you keep it up to date and to run a virus scan once a week.

Hope this helps!

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
