Computer Security & Viruses/Vscan7 Popup

Question
I'm getting a Vscan7 popup when I visit some websites and the only way to get it off the screen is to restart the computer. Other times my computer works fine. How do I keep this popup off of my computer?

I'm using Vista Home Premium 64-bit with Service Pack 1. I have Avast free antivirus and Internet Explorer 8 and I keep everything updated.

Thanks for your help. John

Answer
Your should be able to get rid of it safely with Spyware Doctor, free from http://download.cnet.com/Spyware-Doctor-2010/3000-8022_4-10293212.html

If you do a web search you will find instructions to manually remove Vscan 7. However, I don't recommend that you manually remove this spyware infection because it requires complicated work with the Vista Registry. If you make a mistake with the Registry it could seriously harm your operating system. You
