Hello,
My "Safely Remove Hardware" icon has disappeared. I have Windows Vista. How can I restore this function?

Hi Debbie
Does Windows recognize your USB device when you plug it in? There might be a bad cable connection or USB driver if this is the case. If you are getting the Boop-boop sound when you plug in or take out the USB, then the icon issue is with Vista. Try the following:
1. Click Start->Computer
2. Right click on a USB device and select Properties
3. Click on the Hardware tab and once again select the USB device from the list
4. Click on Properties
5. Click the Policies tab
6. Change it from “Optimize for quick removal” to “Optimize for performance”
