Computer Security & Viruses/browser redirect

Question
Hello :) I hope you can help! For the past couple of months my browser has been acting up. When I search for anything on yahoo or google, my browser automatically redirects my search to random pages. I have to click on the link I want 15 times, very quickly to get to the page I want. This happens in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. I have tried Avast, Adaware, Spybot and pretty much all of the recommended free software programs that are supposed to fix this, but none have fixed the problem. It also concerns me, because every once and a while, while my browser is opened up...my screen will flash off and on 3 times and the bar on the bottom turns white as though someone/something is in my computer.
Please help. Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Thanks :)

Answer
Hi Rose,

Am assuming that you are using Avast for the anti-virus program, make sure you keep it up to date and run a virus scan once a week.

Regarding Ad-ware and Spybot, as they are free programs also, check for updates first and then run a scan.

Try downloading Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.46, a free program available from:

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

Like the others, because it is free - you must check for updates manually and then run a scan.

Hope this helps!

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
