Computer Security & Viruses/unwise.exe

Question
Hi Brian, Even though my problem regarding accessing the Internet has been solved, my computer is just not running the same as before I downloaded the upgrades to Windows.  I have been searching and looking at the programs my computer has to see if I can see anything suspicious and one I found which was recently installed, without my knowledge is called unwise.exe.  There are 2 unwise.exe I have, one found in C:windows and the other in C:windowssystem32macromedshockwave.  I have run two different scans and both have come up with no malware or virus found.  There is conflicting information on the web regarding this unwise.exe. whether it is a virus or not.  What is your opinion?  Should I delete this or leave it be?

Answer
Hi Elizabeth

Chances are it's not an infection.  Most likely it's just an uninstall routine.  If you've been removing programs, that's why unwise has been popping up.  If you wish, I can double-check things to make sure there's no infection.  I can also check for tweaks you can make to get things running better.  Send me a HijackThis log to numbersix6@yahoo.com.  After creating and saving the log, go to the HJT main menu and click on Open The Misc. Tools Section.  Click on Open Process Manager and save the log from there by clicking the floppy icon.  Now go back to the Misc Tools section and click Open Uninstall Manager, then click Save List.  Send all those logs to me as attachments.  Let me look things over and I'll let you know of any changes to make.
