Question
Hi Brian,

I just got Quick Heal Anti-Virus today and while it says my comp is fine, another Smart Internet Protect tells me that I got 25 virus in my comp. Whats going on?

How do I stop those messages of Smart Internet Protect from popping up on my screen and how do I destroy the viruses (if there are really any) from my comp?

Regards,
Vivek.

Answer
Hello Vivek,

1-Disable all currently installed anti-virus programs from Start-up by:
(Clicking on Start)
(Typing MSCONFIG and pressing ENTER on keyboard)
(Then click on STARTUP tab)
(Then scroll to Quick Heal Anti-Virus and deselect the checkbox)
(Do the same to Smart Internet Protect
(Click Apply)
(Click OK)

2-Restart computer when prompted.Once restarted click the link below, download and install MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS
http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

3-Run MSE deep scan and let it capture all hideous infections

4-Once complete, allow removal....if quarantine occurs...proceed with complete deletion.

5-Restart computer when prompted.

6-Click the link below, download and install MALICIOUS SOFTWARE REMOVAL TOOL
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=40587

7-Run a complete scan and leave to detect persistent taces of infections left within the Registry.

8-Once complete, restart when prompted.

9-Now the final and last thing before enabling your precious Antivirus is to uninstall the programs above. Do so(this would require a restart) then proceed with step 10........

10-Click the link below to download, install and run the program

http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/download/d1b4a4e1bd8...

This would stainlessly leave your hard-disk infection free unless otherwise the 2 security programs require an update or are expired.

11-Restart then reverse-repeat step 1 i.e. enable the 2 security programs by selecting their checkboxes.

12-Restart once prompted.

You are done!

Mission Accomplished!
Kind Regards,
Lenny.
