ANSWER: Your Hijack This log file reveals that your computer is running BitComet, a program for downloading files from other people's computers (peer-to-peer file sharing). File sharing with strangers is dangerous because some strangers are either not very nice people, or their computers might have become infected with dangerous programs through their own file sharing behaviors. This is why some computer security programs, for example Sophos, identify a BitComet installation as something you should remove.

Bitcomet is not an "infection" in itself, but using it is almost certain to cause your computer to get infected because of the dangerous things you can download with it.

What is really scary is that many infections can't be caught by any computer security programs. For example, your computer is running a webserver. Is this something you intended to do? Or is it possible that somebody else has taken over your computer and is running a website on it without your knowledge?

If you have been using BitComet to download files, chances are high that you computer now is infected by at least one dangerous program. Many dangerous infections are able to hide from Hijack This. So I recommend, at the very least, that you install a computer security program and attempt to clean your computer with it. This webserver is part of one of the programs you are running from National Instruments, probably Labview. See http://www.ni.com/ to learn what programs they offer. If you do not remember buying one of their products, then you may have a serious problem. However, if you did buy one of their products, ask technical support there how to disable your webserver.

I am concerned because normally you would only be running a National Instruments program on a workstation at a utilities company or an industrial facility. Yet the rest of your Hijack This log file indicates you have contacted me about your home computer. So if you did not buy anything from them, your computer might be running a Trojan that disguises itself as a National Instruments program.

To see what is on the webserver running on your computer, using your browser, type into the location bar http://127.0.0.1

There is no guarantee this will work, as some computer criminal gangs are so good they might keep you from viewing your computer's webserver. If this does show you something, please let me know because I am really, really curious about what is running on this webserver.

Free antivirus programs are worth what you pay for them. I suggest that you uninstall Avast and install one of the free trial security programs I recommended to you and see what it finds. I personally would never entrust my computer to a free antivirus program.
