Computer Security & Viruses/invalid registry

Question
I have ran PC Protection Scan on my computer several times along with Microsoft Security Essential, a trojan was dected and remove by Microsoft Security Essential and 379 invalid registries was detected by PC Protection Scan, but only 378 were able to removed. So I ran both again, this time no virues but 1 invalid registry detected by PC Protection Scan. When I attempted the action to have it removed, I was told 1 detected, 0 removed, 1 error.

Do I need to be worried and if so what corrective action can I take? My computer knowledge is very limited.

Thanks

Answer
Hi John,

I would suggest updating Microsoft Security Essential then restart Windows in Safe Mode, once in Safe Mode run another scan with Microsoft Security Essential.

When Windows first starts, keep tapping the "F8" key until you see a window with various ways to start Windows, by using the arrow keys navigate to Safe Mode, click the Enter key.

If you get an error, please let me know exactly what it says, thanks.

Hope this helps!

Experience

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
