Question
hey brian. im having some trouble getting rid of a few viruses that found their way on my laptop. my anti virus is Avira and even though i do a full scan, it keeps catching the same ones (BOO/TDss.M and TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen2) i tried using combofix and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware but my virus scan keeps bringing these up

Answer
Hi Meghan

You have a rather persistent rootkit.  Follow the instructions for using the tool TDSSKiller found below:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-tdss-tdl3-alureon-rootkit-u...

When completed, try running your virus scan and Malwarebytes in Safe Mode.  That should clean things up, but if not, let me know.
