Computer Security & Viruses/McAfee's Shredder

Question
Hi Lorry,
Fortunately, I don't have a virus or the like, but I'm not sure of my subject's category.  So if this isn't your expertise, would you point me to the right area.

I have McAfee (it's been very good for me#.  I've read that when you delete email it's still on the hard drive.  McAfee indicates that their shredder will make your deleted stuff unattainable by anyone.

If I check for the shredder to shred the Recycle Bin or the Temporary Internet Files, will it only delete what's been deleted?

Which one #Recycle Bin, or Temporary Internet Files) do you think will take care of deleted email?

Will it only take care of currently deleted email, or will it do the past years of the computer?

Thank you,
Nancy

Answer
Hi Nancy,

Not being a user of Mcafee, found the following site with information where you could joing the McAfee Support Community:

https://community.mcafee.com/message/95588

Not knowing which email program you use, check out the following:

http://ask-leo.com/are_deleted_emails_really_deleted.html

http://www.ehow.com/retrieve-deleted-emails/

Am fairly certain that the shredder would remove/shred anything in any given folder you tell it to.

Hope this helps!
Lorry

Expertise

I can answer most questions regarding viruses/Trojans and help to remove them.

Experience

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
