Computer Security & Viruses/antivirus function?

Question
hi lorry,
i currently have a school computer with a lifetime subscription of mcafee agent, but after many instances where malwarebytes found viruses that mcafee failed to protect me against (like today!), i'm thinking about trying out stuff like norton and kaspersky.  i'm thinking about using their trial software, but my problem is that a lot of these antiviruses remove current antiviruses, which i don't want because i don't want to get rid of mcafee for some trial software.  question is, if a disable mcafee and leave it on my system, will it still get removed (since it wouldn't be on to interfere)? is that even possible for me to do (because honestly, my biggest problem with mcafee is that it didn't come with a user manual, so i have no idea how to use it).  thanks!

Answer
Hi Danny,

Your last statement could be the problem, not knowing how to use McAfee. I would suggest going to their site http://home.mcafee.com/root/support.aspx for support.

If you want, you could disable McAfee and then install a trialware AV program. Better yet, check out the following as they are free and have a good record:

Hope this helps!

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
