Computer Security & Viruses/Antivirus Removal

Question
Hi, I have Kaspersky internet security on my laptop but it is due to expire tomorrow and i want to return to mcafee as I find it better. The problem i am having is that when i try to uninstall it (no matter which way) when im prompted to reboot my laptop all i am getting is a blue screen with an alpha numerical error which goes so fast i cant even read it before the laptop tries to reeboot again repeatedly. The only option i seem to have is to start the laptop on safe mode and click system recovery which brings the kaspersky back again.... there appears to be no way to get rid of it completely, ive even tried their own removal tool from their support website but get the same response when i go to restart.. it must be the worst i have ever seen unlike the other anti virus which always uninstalled at a click of a button... Can you tell me how to rid this completely as so as i can go back to the user friendly macfee...Thanks... Stephen

Answer
First of all, I have never used Kaspersky. However, one thing struck me in your question when you were talking about safe mode. Have you actually tried to remove it in safe mode? Have you ran the removal tool in safe mode?
One other thing; before you run the removal tool or try to uninstall it, hit alt+ctrl+del and stop every process that has to do with Kaspersky. Then try to remove it.
On another note; I have used AVG free edition for approx. 8 years. It is better than Norton's and McAfee, is free, and actually rated higher than the paid for anti-viruses. Get it from here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus
Let me know how it goes and the answers to the questions above.
