Computer Security & Viruses/PC won't recognize drive

Question
Hello:

My Acer 4520 will not upload music from a disk placed in the (E? F? who knows?) drive. Installation disks work fine. My system is Vista/IE9/MS Security Essentials, which, by the way, works wonderfully.

Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Susan,

Doesn't sound like a security problem at this point, so http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us
may lead you to the solution. If the Microsoft support page doesn't and you'd like me to continue to help, let me know if it's ever worked before and just stopped all of a sudden, or whether this is the first time you tried it? Is it a new machine, could it have been damaged recently, or did someone else use it temporarily? Have you made an recent changes, or added any programs or hardware devices?

Also, go to Windows Updates (in IE), and make sure you turn on Automatic Updates - which includes updates for drivers: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Finding-drivers-What-to-do-when . Then, update drivers if there are updates (same link)  Don't forget to restart computer after updating.
