Second thing...While ordering memory from Crucial...I read that while you could install one stick at a time, your best performance would come when installing pairs.......Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, I have been unable to come up with any information on the Sonic version you have.  You may wish to contact Roxio support at 1-877-793-7480.  Their site does state "To download software you have already purchased, you will need to look up your order

Installing the maximum memory your system supports is always the best idea in order to get optimum performance.  Installing matched pairs works best on motherboards that support dual channel memory flow.  It will increase system performance on programs that support it.  Best way to buy RAM is to maximize, and to do it in pairs if possible.  For example, if your system supports up to 2Gb RAM and has two memory slots, purchase 2 1Gb RAM modules.  Hope that helped.
