Computer Security & Viruses/sound not working

Question
Hello,

I don't really think it's a virus but my sound of my computer is not working at all. I've tried so many diff things from resetting volume defaults, updating the audio drivers etc. But I DID use Combofix to delete some viruses yesterday and ever since the colume hasn't worked so... Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Answer
What does it say in the device manager for sound devices and audio codes? I don't think combofix killed your audio but I believe it has did something to the audio software and firmware. However, you have already tried what I would have told you to do first. Reinstall/update the sound card drivers. So we have to go to other things. I came up with this when I googled combofix audio problems: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic286426.html
The last post tells how one guy fixed the very same problem. I just don't know if you have similar hardware configurations.
This is the way another guy fixed the same problem: http://forums.techguy.org/virus-other-malware-removal/701011-no-sound-after-comb
One very basic thing you could look at is to make sure your audio devices are enabled in the BIOS (setup). Just grasping for straws as they say.
I have used combofix many times and the most it has done is delete a driver that I was able to reinstall restoring sound. I wish I could be of more help. If you try what the guys did in the links and come up empty, get back with me with what happened and I may be able to help you from there.
