Question
Hi Brian. If I re-format my hard-drive and sell the computer...do I need to be concerned about someone being able to retrieve passwords or bank info from the computer? Windows XP........Thanks!

Answer
Hi Jaye

If you are just going to reinstall XP and revert the computer to it's manufactured state before selling, then yes, personal information can be recovered from the hard drive.  The best thing to do is before reinstalling XP, wipe the hard drive by using a program that writes 0's and 1's to all the sectors at least 7 times.  This will effectively stop most recovery methods.  Use the program called Darik's Boot And Nuke:
