Question
QUESTION: Hey Brian,

While checking emails I saw a suspucious email that read "Bank of America account". Normally, I usually delete all suspucious email but for some reason i decided to look inside this email. I didn't click any links within the email, however, when I closed the email I could no longer find it within my inbox and my computer started running fast.

I then close all windows, browers, etc. and ran Malwarebytes, Spybot, and SuperAnitSpyware everything seemed clean, other than cookies... However, after running the programs I notice that my family picture on my desktop is gone, icons are still visible but the desktop background is blue. Also, upon closing hotmail my internet browser redirected to a fake Internet Explorer telling me the IE version I had was outdate...

QUESTION: Brian,

Sorry for the delay in reply! Had more serious issues with laptop. Upon start-up the entire laptop would completely hang, with no desktop icons visible. I then did a hard shut off and restarted in safe mode. Using a flash drive with virus protection, malwarebytes, and several other AV's and Anti-Mal' and spyware, I was able to clear up cookies, and whatever was hanging my laptop.

At present everything is back to normal, I HOPE!!! Here's an update HJT report with proper formatting...

Hi William

Your log looks to be free of malware, so hopefully you fixed it with the thumb drive tools.  The only thing I would do is run the Norton Removal Tool because of leftover entries from an uninstall.  It can be found here:

Also, Spybot is a better tool than SpywareTerminator, and there really is no need for both to be running as they could slow things down for you.  Other than that, if you have further trouble, just let me know.  Cheers!
