Computer Security & Viruses/Virus Protection & Android Tablets

Question
QUESTION: Hello:

Is there any virus protection available for android tablets and should someone have security for his computer tablet? If so, what is the application called?

I thank you for your reply.

ANSWER: Yes to both questions.  There's more than one application.  Criticisms of Antivirus that runs on a smart phone or pad apply equally to desktops.

Testing that's been done are biased against free antivirus.  Stay tuned.  More antivirus apps will come.  Given the opportunity and need, I'd use an app from any antivirus company I already trust.

QUESTION: Hello:

I want to thank you for your reply.

I am confused by "Testing that's been done are biased against free anti-virus." Are you indicating that someone should not use a free application for anti-virus protection but should purchase an application?

I thank you for your follow-up reply.

Answer
By bias, I meant a predisposed opinion.  When I wrote that reply I'd just finished looking at a couple articles about "independent" evaluations.  I see no value in paying for something unless it's warranted.  But I see greater value is paying for something that's also Open Source. Software you buy typically isn't returnable and if it runs on Windows is probably not Open Source but there are exceptions.
