Computer Security & Viruses/Blocking websites

Question
Hello

I am attempting to block a website by typing the address site into the host file. i.e. Typing 127.0.0.1 followed by the website. I have used the method successfully several times on previous occasions but I have come across a website that for some reason refuses to be blocked. Could you please propose any remedy for this.

Thank you in advance

Malcolm

Answer
Malcolm,

Please provide the website you want to block, your browser and system. There are configuration tools provided in free applications like Spybot Search and Destroy that can help you block sites and/or IP addresses. Your Firewall may have that ability as well, but I don't know what it is. If interested, following is a service the blocks websites and some alternatives.
