Computer Security & Viruses/AUTO.EXE virus

Question
Hello Lorry.

I have an old 486DX-50 computer I use with my ham radio equipment which long ago was infected with the auto.exe virus from a disk someone sent me.  The computer is running Windows 3.1 and runs only a couple of dos programs.  I have not seen any problems caused by the virus other than any disk I make on it has the virus copied onto it.  This old computer only has a couple floppy drives.  Any ideas how I can get the virus off this computer?  On my main computer running windows XP I use the free AVG software.  Older versions would remove the virus from disks made on the other computer, but V7.5 which I run now simply sees the virus and reports it but cannot remove it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Mike,

Check out the following:

I'm getting an error when I go to Symantec, so you might want to try this site later:

Hope this helps!

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
