Computer Security & Viruses/Anti-Virus Scans

Question
Hi, Carolyn.  I run the Anti-Virus software of Kasperskey.  It scans about 220,000 Objects but takes about 3hrs.30mins. to do it.   Is that a reasonable length of time for this scan?

Answer
That is certainly reasonable, depending upon the size and nature of those files. If you want to be absolutely certain, you can try uninstalling Kapersky (just temporarily) and install and run a complete scan with one of these free antiviruses: Avast! antivirus, from http://www.avast.com or AVG, free from http://free.grisoft.com or F-Secure Internet Security, which offers a free trial version at http://www.f-secure.com/home_user/support_and_downloads/evaluations/ .

Note that you can't run two antivirus programs at the same time because they will fight each other.
