Question -
I got some type of virus from an email. It first made a toolbar with adult web links. I was able to remove it but it said that to delete the whole thing I must use add/remove programs. I looked in their, and all the programs were good, normal ones. Then ads start coming, and I mean alot. Ads never use to come up since my Norton 2005got rid of all of them. Then a search box comes up at the bottom which I have to close. So the bottom box and ads I can't get rid of. I think the virus got in and is bypassing my Norton. When I scan no viruses come up. I have no clue how to delete it. Its mainpage for the search goes to lop.com and mywebsearch. Please help!

Hi Devin,
Symantec explains how to remove Spyware.ISearch at:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/spyware.isearch.html
Even though you NAV installed, you might want to go to:
http://sarc.com/ Scroll down and click on,"Free Online Virus and Security Check" Write down exactly anything it finds, then return to:
http://sarc.com/ and do a search for what was found. Symantec usually has a removal tool and/or directions for removing manually.
Once you have it removed, make sure that you run LiveUpdate at least once a week and run a virus scan afterwards. Norton usually puts out new protection on Wednesday and Sunday evenings, so Thursday and Monday mornings are good time to run a scan.
Hope this helps!

AnswerHi Devin,
Check out the following from Symantec:

The following instructions pertain to all Symantec antivirus products that support Security Risk detection.
1. Update the definitions.
2. Unregister the Dll.
3. Uninstall iSearch Toolbar 1.0 using the Add/Remove Programs utility.
4. Run a full system scan.
5. Reverse the changes made to the registry.
6. Delete any related files, if they exist.
Hope this helps!
