Expert: Doug Woodall - 10/19/2007

Question
i was told on a forum site, that they were all checking my IP address to see if i was a different person or not, i dont want people in my computer anyway, so i went on a site to test my settings and it said "Your Proxy Server is High Anonymous or you don't use proxy" is that good or not good. Can i still be traced and got at. If so is there anything else i can do. i have panda internet security if that is any help???

Answer
Hi Sean,
There are always ways to trace a IP. However, what you want to do is tale all the precautions you can if you dont want to be traced.
Ask Leo has a great article he wrote back in 2005 that I always refer people to. Also IP tracing has alot to do with how secure your hosting service is. Use Firefox, use Thunderbird, ect. to present yourself as less of a target.
heres the link.

Hope this helps.
