Computer Security & Viruses - Trace IP Address of Trolls

Expert: Doug Woodall - 12/19/2007

Question
I run a diet-related group, and have had occasional problems with trolls deliberately trying to disrupt the board, out of sheer maliciousness. I currently strongly suspect that one of the current members of the group is the same as an Internet Troll I'd previously got rid of, over a year ago. What I've heard I need to do is get hold of IP-tracing software so that I can compare the IP-address(es) from which the messages of both posters were sent out, to see if they are one and the same.Do you know of any IP-tracing software that I can use(preferably freeware/shareware with free-trial)? I'm a bit of a technophobe, so, in case it's rather difficult to make use of, perhaps you could point me to a re4levant site explaining how to go about it. Thanks,

Answer
Hi Gerald,
Ive used VisualRoute for years with great results. They offer a free trail. You have to educate yourself in its use, but its worth the time spent learning it.

For more info about IP's visit Arul Johns site

Hope this helps.
