Question
Hi, i was just wondering if you could help me. I'm wondering if you can tell me if my computer store pop ups the same as they do sites. and if so how can you tell how to identify it as a pop up and not a site i visited.

Thank you very much for your help

Lisa

Answer
Hi Lisa,
Some sites make legitimate use of pop-up windows. Therefore, the pop-up blocking feature in your browser has a whitelist mechanism to allow certain sites to open pop-ups.
a pop-up windows code  is stored in the network, on the http server of the pop-up window sender, and also stored in the puter of the recipient. Before a pop-up window can be displayed on one’s computer screen, it needs to be stored in the RAM memory of the video card.
Now this is not the same as the code that runs on your browser and your email program. Its a script that runs when you tell it to, by opening the email or visiting the site.
So, your puter stores the popups, but not the same way it stores web urls.
And you cant ID it thru your browser whitelisting option.
Thats why so many disable JavaScript from running. Many types of popups are JavaScript.

Hope this helps.
