Question QUESTION: Hi Doug, I have visited a music download site for quite a while with no problems, but for the past week or so, every time I open it up, I get a quick message telling me it has detected a firewall. I can open the site, but it won't download anything. I have 2 firewalls - Windows and CA - and both give the site access. I have turned one off and then the other, and finally turned both off to see if it made a difference. It didn't. I'm a novice at technical stuff and have no idea what to do to fix this. Can you give me any ideas please? Thanks, Michele
ANSWER: Hi Michele,
What program is giving you the message? Is it Windows or CA?
What is the music site?
Have you done any MS Updates lately?
Let me know.

QUESTION: Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. The site is Shareaza. When the message pops up, it's gone so quickly I don't even have enough time to read it completely. All I can get is that a firewall has been detected and my downloads will be slow. As I only have a dial-up connection, this means it's non-existent. As for the MS Updates, for the past couple of months the Update icon has been appearing on the taskbar. I haven't tried to download any (and my son swears he hasn't either). It's not there all the time, and when it is, it never gets past 60%. I have also had a couple of people tell me that they are having problems with video emails I send them. I've done virus scans, adware and spyware scans and they've all come up clear. Any help would be appreciated. Michele
Answer It sounds like your dial up service is the problem. Contact them and ask them if they are limiting their service. Ive heard of this happening.
You need to get your MS updates installed. You can order a CD from MS for XP here.
