Computer Security & Viruses - restore

Expert: Carolyn Meinel - 10/20/2007

Question
Hello Carolyn Meinel.
I deleted a partition by mistake on a drive that doesn't have operating system on it. That drive has important info on it. Is it possible to restore it, please.
Thank you,
Alec

Answer
There are many free or inexpensive programs that make it super easy to restore deleted partitions. The important thing is to avoid doing anything with your hard drive, for example don't install new software or save any files, until you get this software and fix your hard drive. That means getting your partition management software on a bootable CD or DVD, boot from it and then use it to restore the deleted partition. You can find several of these at
