Computer Security & Viruses/The strangest thing...

Question
Hello,

Alright, I'm assuming this is a virus because I can't figure out how it can't be. Here's what's happened:

I went to digitally download a game I purchased. It stated that I didn't have enough disk space. I thought, ok I'll uninstall something. I unstall a rather large 8gig game from my computer. I try to download the game again and I get the same message. I look at my hard drive space and it's actually Decreased instead of Increased. I questioned my sanity at this point and uninstalled another game. Same thing happened, it went from 2.18g to what is is now 1.59g. I've done complete searches to make sure that I did indeed uninstall the games and they aren't on my hard drive.

This is rather puzzling to me since I can't seem to locate any noticble (in the Task Manager) viruses. I'm completely lost on this. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Matt

Answer
Hi Matt,

Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup, from there you can remove Temporary Files and anything else you don't need. Once that is done, navigate back to System Tools, this time click Desk Defragmenter. Once that is done, reboot and see if you install the game.

Hope this helps!

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
