hi,
i have a virus that when ever i open almost any program it closes it, also when i use the search function in IE and i search for anything relating to viruses it closes IE down. I have tried installing AVG and Kaspersky but it wont even let them install. Mcafee was the only program so far that windows let install in safe mode, but that didn't find what the problem was.

Hi Rob,

If you cannot install and/or run a program, the odds are that it is time to reformat the computer. Before doing that, try using System Restore and go back to time when the computer was working, then run a virus scan.

If System Restore doesn't work, reformat using the Restore/Recovery CDs that came with the computer. Remember to backup anything of importance first.
