Question
It appears I can no longer update my Norton anti virus since i an still running windows98SE. I have 2 computers with pentium 3 chip, i don't know if these machines even meet the minimum requirements for XP.  any suggestions? Should I delete my norton anti virus 2006 since it slows my machine or is it still doing any good? i am running Firefox browser. Is there another option to download for virus protection? Thanks ..

Answer
Hi Jim,

The following site has the system requirements for NAV 2006:

http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/products/sysreq.jsp?pcid=is&pvid=nav2006

The following site has Windows XP Home Edition System Requirements:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/upgrading/sysreqs.mspx

You could use AVG, a free antivirus program available from:

http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/

You might want to consider getting Windows XP or waiting for Vista, as Microsoft doesn't support Windows 98 any longer.

Hope this helps!

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
