Question
I have windows 98 on my computer. Iwas online and downloaded a screensaver and wallpaper and could get to my control panel at the time. After I signed off I got a pop-up from internet explorer saying it had created a problem. Now I can't open the control panel, the recycle bin or the 'my computer' icon. Every time I try, I get a pop-up saying 'this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. Please help!
Hi Nancy,
Did you try rebooting the computer? That usually puts everything back to default. If not, start the computer in Safe Mode by tapping the "F8" key when the computer first starts, now run a virus scan. I'm assuming that you have an AV program installed.
