Computer Security & Viruses/xlime.offeroptimizer.com and .exe.0.avb

Question
When I go on the internet, after about 10 mins there is a new webpage on my menu bar. There are two different ones, but they are from the same place. http://xlime.offeroptimizer.com When I click on them, they won't open, but i can easily close them. Why are they there? I have ad-aware on my computer, and it doesn't pick these things up.

I also just recently went on to a couple of sites to get a crack for a program. After this, it installed an adult site search bar. I removed this, and i had to use MS-DOS to remove a particularly stubborn program. However, some of my .exe files have been turned into .exe.0.avb and i am unable to use them any more. Is this a virus?

Thanks
Kim

Answer
Try this:

Delete these files from C:\windows

bi.dll
bi.ini
biprep.exe

Click Start --> Run, type in "msconfig" and hit enter.
Uncheck anything for "bi" or "birep".

If this doesn't work, email me at carolyn.meinel@techbroker.com and we'll look at some other possibilities.
