-----Answer-----
Hi SUsan,

If you are using Windows XP or ME, you should disable System Restore before removing the virus. If using Windows 98 just follow the other instructions for removal at:

http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2005-042316-2917-99&

Hope this helps!

Answer
Hi Susan,

To disable System Restore, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore, click System Restore Settings, under the System Restore tab click Turn off System Restore, click Apply, then OK.

Once you remove the virus, run another virus scan to verify that it is off the computer. Now navigate back to System Restore and enable.

You do not have to reformat.

Hope this helps!

This happens to be of interest to me as it boggles my mind that people have nothing better to do than to write a virus. Wish these people, the ones who write viruses would put the knowledge to good use instead. My job as a local tech involves removing viruses and/or spyware.
