Question
Hi, I am going to be the drum major of my band this year, and I am curious on how to conduct in 5/4 time.

Answer
Hi, Trey, thanks for writing.  Usually, it is like a 6/4 except one less beat to the right.  In other words, 6/4 is down, down and a bit to the right, left, right, right, up, while 5/4 is down, down and a bit to the right, left, right, up.  I can send a drawing as an attachment, if you need it, but would need an email address.  Write anytime!
