Conifers - Conifer Identification

Expert: Jim Hyland - 6/13/2008

Question
I live in Massachusetts. I'm trying to identify a tall conifer in my yard that has short needles but the branches are very droopy.  A internet search brought up Norway Spruce or Brewers Spruce but I'm not certain. Sadly, the tree is going to be cut down due to septic system replacement but I'd like to find out what it is because it seems unusual.

Thanks.

Answer
I need a picture to be able to ID the tree. You can attach one to the message or send pictures to jimhyland@yahoo.com with Expert Question in the subject line so my spam will not delete it. You might also try calling the Massachusetts state Forestry agency and asking one of their Forester to come take a look. Their number should be in your local phone book.
