Question Do you know if the Thuja Green Giants are suitable to be planted on a slope? My slope is 3:1 - every three feet it's one foot higher. It sounds like they don't need as much water as other cedars (ie. Emerald cedar) so I'm hoping they'll work out. Would I need to plant them or stake them any particular way on this slope? Any other recommendations?
Answer Yes they will grow on the slope. Dig the holes for the trees twice the size of the root ball and as deep and fill with good top soil and water. Remove the burlap and wire from the root ball before planting. Mulch around the tree with not more than 3 inches deep of organic mulch not piled up on the trunk. They do not need to be staked.
