Question
I live on Long Island, Suffolk County, New York.
How do I khow what zone I am in?
Also- are Thuja Green Giants hearty near salt water?

Answer
here is a web link to the hardiness zone for NY. Suffolk seems to be in the 6-7 zone. Thuja Green Giants will grow in zones 5-8 so I see no reason that they will not grow there. Salt spray will damage almost any tree so if the area. Excessive salt spray is not good for any landscape plant, yet some species of arborvitae are "hypersensitive." As long as it is not getting splashed by the salt water it should be ok.

Sorry about leaving the map off here it is:
