About Mrs. Priscilla Lyons
Expertise
I have time for you. The Bible has been my guiding light for most of the 56 years of my life. My missionary parents in Brazil kindled a love for God`s Word by their example and their love for truth. The Lord has blessed my husband and me with responsible, independent children who love and serve the Lord and are our best friends. I would enjoy discussing any subject or problem from a Biblical perspective. I know the dangers of government entitlement mentality, the dangers of homosexuality, abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, gun restrictions, pacifism and environmental extremism.

Experience
My husband and I are active in local Republican politics and I've served on a Right to Life PAC.

Conservatives - Church vs. Government

Expert: Mrs. Priscilla Lyons - 11/19/2008

Question
What if the government showed up and there wasn't any need? If the church
was really doing her part, the politicians wouldn't be able to continue
creating or sustaining these welfare and entitlement programs.  Our taxes are
so high its hard to see how we could give enough to create these programs,
but if God is still in charge (and I didn't see Saviour in my ballots) then He will
provide. He's just waiting for us to show up.
Thanks Byron

Answer
Byron.
This a question that I've finally resolved in my mind, anyway.
In the past I faulted the Church for not taking better care of the people surrounding Her.  Then I realized that folks wouldn't put up with the Church's Biblical requirements pertaining to work, self-responsibility, spending, bad habits, etc.  In fact that may be why the Gov't stepped in-because they were 'nicer' and no strings were attached. (Just vote for the party that promotes welfare to keep it growing).
Folks tend to want to keep their bad habits and then cry to the Christians for help.  If questioned (they seldom are) they tell you it's really not your business where their welfare $$ and food stamps have gone. They won't admit any wrong doing.   We've allowed our country to acquire a Sugar Daddy mentality, and I don't think man can fix it now.  Only God can.
If the Church were to run the government programs Biblically, there would be lots of tax money that was collected that wouldn't be needed.
But you'd have a lot of unhappy folks.
I just read that the president to be will not show proof of being a citizen.  Pray for our country!
