AboutMrs. Priscilla Lyons Expertise I have time for you. The Bible has been my guiding light for most of the 56 years of my life. My missionary parents in Brazil kindled a love for God`s Word by their example and their love for truth. The Lord has blessed my husband and me with responsible, independent children who love and serve the Lord and are our best friends. I would enjoy discussing any subject or problem from a Biblical perspective. I know the dangers of government entitlement mentality, the dangers of homosexuality, abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, gun restrictions, pacifism and environmental extremism.
Experience My husband and I are active in local Republican politics and I've served on a Right to Life PAC.
Question I have a question for you since you seem to be very relegious. Do you think interacial marriage is the same as gay mariage. Do you think both are immoral? Some Christians are opposed to interracial marriage
Answer Dear Jason,
Thanks for writing. I appreciate the owner's manual (Bible) that our Creator has provided and preserved for us at great cost. Genesis 1:26 says humans are created in God's image, and Acts 17:26 says God has made of one blood all nations, so race should not be an issue with Christians. Different backgrounds can add strain to a marriage, but it is only being yoked with an unbeliever that is warned against in the Bible (II Corinthians 6:14).
There is no such thing as gay marriage unless you change the definition of marriage. Sex outside of marriage as God instituted it, is immoral as well as detrimental to health, wealth, and character.
Genesis 1:27-28 and Ephesians 5:31-32 explain that the joining of male to female is the symbol of God's oneness (two shall be one flesh) that is the means of creating life. Our physical marriages are a pale, temporary example of God's real, eternal relationship He offers to share with us.
Romans 1:19-32 shows the progression of disregard for God's created order leading to homosexual behavior.
The wages of sin (not just homosexual sin) is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 Physical death is a temporary consequence of our separation from the Creator of Life, but the eternal separation from the Source of everything good is worse. If we recognize our sin for the awfulness that it is and what it cost God to provide justice through Jesus, then we can surrender our sinful selves to God in exchange for the perfection and power of Jesus to live through us, changing us to be more like Him. If you entrust yourself to Jesus as your Lord, having Him forgive your sins, you can be born again to live forever.
