Conservatives - Alderman

Question
How many signatures are required to become an alderman?  And is that all that is required to become an alderman is signatures on a piece of paper?

Thank you.
Diane

Answer
It depends on where you want to be an alderman. Generally, the number of signatures is a certain percentage of the last voter turn out. In other jurisdictions, it is just a flat number. Also, some jurisdictions have other requirements, such as a financial disclosure forms, or a residency requirement, or a loyalty oath, or other things specific to that jurisdiction. Contact your city clerk's office for all of the local requirements for the office your interested in.
