About Lane
Expertise
As a Conservative Republican I can answer pretty much any question on any issue that faces America, namely issues that are hot topics in the political ring. From social issues like abortion to broader issues like The War On Terror; I am here to give you straight forward answers to help you better understand America's Political landscape. Being that I am a Republican, however, does not mean that I cannot look at situations objectively. There are areas where I disagree with the Conservative base and times where, because of my open-mindedness, display slightly more Liberal views - depending on the issue, of course.

Experience
I run a political blog called The Black & White Report (http://bwreport.blogspot.com/), write a weekly Conservative column (http://nicklane.townhall.com/) and also do extensive research into the area. I closely follow most stories which have political stance and publicize my opinions in a clean, informative way.

Organizations
I belong to The Republican Party, or the GOP.

Publications

Education/Credentials
Although I still attend High School it does not make me any less equipped to answer political questions because I devote much of my time to politics (much more than your average teen)I watch carefully what goes on in the political arena, I ask questions and challenge those in charge. I get to the truth and stay away from ignorant Partisan politics.

Awards and Honors
Although not relevent I receive straight A's in school and maintain a constant 4.0 GPA.

Conservatives - Gas prices

Expert: Lane - 11/20/2007

Question
I hear that we could really lower gas prices if we just started drilling for oil in our own country.

What places are we talking about here? And what is some logic the tree huggers are using to stop us from doing so?

I did my own research on this, but I want more opinions and as much knowledge as I can find!

Thank you.

-Andrew

Answer
Andrew,

Hello, and thank you for the question. It is true that if we depended less on foreign oil and drilled more at home we could greatly reduce gas prices by providing for ourselves. The areas we are talking about are places like Alaska, and even some northern states such as Wyoming which all have great untapped oil reserves.

The problem for the "tree huggers" as you called them is that in order to began the process of drilling, they think that means killing animals, habitats, and trees while we're at it. I personally do not know much about the tactics they are using to prevent us from doing this, but one main roadblock I can see is the overwhelmingly Democratic Congress which would never pass a bill calling for this kind of action, and other Government officials who don't want to do anything.

I hope I was able to answer your question, if not please ask a follow-up. Have a great day!

Lane
