Question
From what i know,Cuba and the USA don't have the best diplomatic relations,yet the US army has got its troops in camp X-Ray,which is in Cuba? Why has Cuba allowed this? thank you.

Hi,
You are correct that since Castro came to power we have not had the anything but stained to a cold war.
It is not an Army base, it a Navel base, but there is an Army presence. The base at Gitmo predates this. It was opened in 1898 at the end of the Spanish-American War. USA and Cuba were on good terms from 1898 to 1958. Then as Castro got support from the USSR
Cuba became a front in the Cold War.  It  almost went hot in 1962.  There is very tence fence line between
the Cuban and American forces. Shots are occasionally exchaged.  If the Cubans really wanted us out, they could easily overrun the base. They could win the battle,
but would lose the war. Plus it would give the USA an
excuse to invade and depose Castro. So the Cubans
don't try to force us out.

Its being used to house the detainees because it is one of the hardests places in the world to attempt
a terror attack. USA is armed to the teeth and Cuba is Stalinist style police state.
