Conservatives - Impeachment

Expert: Dennis - 9/28/2006

Question
Dennis,
My father in law and I have argued since Clinton was president that he was impeached.  My father in law says he wasn't and I say he was.  Can you clarify?

Thanks,
Jason

Answer
Yes he was impeached. His case was then sent to the Senate for trial. None of the Democrats in the Senate voted in favor of his removal from office, so he remained President.

Impeachment is what the House of Representatives does. A trial is what the Senate does.
