Question

After all these years, and with 'the war on terror' still a big issue, why do the powers that be still allow bin laden to be free?
With millions available for intelligence,I am sure they know where he is,whether dead or alive.
The idea that they dont want to go into Pakistan to get him as it might upset the Pakistanis is a load of crap.
Since when has the US been afraid of anyone elses opinion?
Bosnia,Grenada,Viet Nam,Central America-the list goes on.
If he is there, dam the torpedos and get him! If the mission is successfull, the Pakistanis will forgive, and it will put a big nail in terrorisms coffin.
It sure makes me feel suspicious, but I am almost as concerned with the fact Americans have given up-not a big issue anymore.
I bet that the CIA either:
1. Knows he is dead but wants to keep him around for the war on terror
2.Has information he is in Iran or Russia but knows this would really hurt the administration.
Any thoughts?

Answer
Hello Bud,

I don't mean to be rude, but your point of view is extremely naive. Just the idea that the Bush administration or the CIA would allow a monster like Bin Laden to live, or hide his death to continue waging war goes against every Conservative principal in the book. I can nearly 100% assure you that the American Government does not know for certain weather or not the terror boss is alive or dead (or where he might be). That's preposterous.

The whole point of The War On Terror was to prevent future attacks on the U.S. and to save a nation that had been broken by years of terrorism. I can assure you that if we knew for certain where Bin Laden was he would be dead, because it is much more important for this war to end then for it to continue, because if Osama was killed it would end the war sooner, bring hope to the Republicans for the 2008 election, and shine a much needed light on the fine work of The Bush Administration and our brave men and women overseas.

The fact that we don't want to hurt the feelings of Pakistan or other ally countries is almost mute, because while it would hurt us initially to bring military action into those countries, it would help not only us, but the rest of the world, even more if Bin Laden was taken out in the process.

I am sure that the CIA has some ideas about the whereabouts of the murderer, but until they know for sure they can't risk compromising this mission by killing any more innocent people. I hope I was able to answer your question, if not please ask a follow up Have a great day!
